On March 8, 2025, Juan Carlos Tello, a resident of Lima, was found sleeping on the train tracks near his hometown. Intoxicated and unaware of his surroundings, Tello had positioned himself perilously close to the rails. As a cargo train approached, engineers spotted him but couldn’t halt the massive vehicle in time. The train passed over Tello, who astonishingly survived with only minor injuries to his left arm.
