New Evidence Emerges in University of Idaho Murder Case

Recent court filings have unveiled new details about the actions of the surviving roommates on the night of the tragic murders of four University of Idaho students in November 2022. Text messages between the two surviving roommates, identified as D.M. and B.F., reveal their growing concern in the early hours of November 13, 2022. At 4:22 a.m., D.M. sent a message to B.F. stating, “I think I heard something.” B.F. responded, suggesting it might be the roommates returning home. As time passed without further communication from their housemates, D.M.’s anxiety escalated, leading her to text B.F. again at 4:24 a.m., “I’m freaking out.”

Later that morning, at 10:23 a.m., D.M. sent additional messages to her roommates, asking if they were awake and urging them to answer. Receiving no replies, the roommates ventured upstairs, where they discovered one of their housemates unresponsive. This discovery prompted a frantic 911 call at 11:58 a.m., during which the dispatcher struggled to gather coherent information amidst the chaos.

These revelations provide a deeper understanding of the timeline and the roommates’ reactions during the critical hours following the incident. The defense has attempted to block the recording and other evidence from being used in court, arguing they are hearsay and could prejudice the jury.
